Australia isn't feeling too hot about, well, Australia.

The outback epic opened to a steady $4.9 million in one of the Land Down Under's widest releases, which isn't anything to write home about but also isn't anything to sneeze at either.

Despite Nicole Kidman's soundly derided performance, Fox is hoping that co-star and Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman will lure women into Australia's seats.

Additionally, the studio is banking on Baz Luhrmann history repeating itself, with ticket sales picking up as word of mouth spreads, just as it did with Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet. Australia has actually already opened bigger in Oz than both of the director's past endeavors.

We'll see!

The former members of the band Creed are in talks to do a reunion tour in 2009.

The band did the nasty break up thing in 2004.

But, it looks like money has a magic way of making bad feelings disappear.

Despite their shittiness, Creed has sold 26.1 million albums in the United States since 1997.

And, from 220 shows between Novber 1997 and December 2002, the band made $70.3 million.

Are there any Creed fans left?

At the 18th Annual Crillon Debutante Ball in Paris this past weekend, Scout Willis was one of the 24 girls presented as an initiation into womanhood.

The Ball, which is held at the Hôtel de Crillon, is a glamorous elite affair, where young ladies from all over the world fancy up in couture dresses and make their debuts as women.

When stepdad Ashton Kutcher was congratulated on his daughter's "coming out" he adeptly replied, "As far as I know, she's dancing with boys."

That Ashton - he's a smart lad.

Mama Cougar Demi was there, along with daddy Bruce and the rest of their unfortunate-looking daughters.

Holly sure picked herself a winner!

Criss Angel's new Cirque du Soleil show is apparently still sucking major balls.

Not only are critics and bloggers ragging on Criss Angel Believe, but taxi drivers - listening to clients bash the show and disliking it themselves - are also bearing the bad news. And, in a town propelled by cabs, that's a major death blow.

The Cirque production at the Luxor, brought in $5 million in pre-sales, leaving a $95 million gap to fill of the $100 million the show is rumored to have cost.

On the other hand, the much more simplified magic show of Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo is faring much better with audiences.

Less is more!

Years after making Zoolander, there might be a Zoolander 2 in the works for star Ben Stiller !

Stiller was in London last week for the premiere of another one of his sequels, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. And, during an interview, he confirms the news that there might be a Zoolander 2 in the works, especially since they've been working on scripts.

Stiller says, “I’ve been trying to get Zoolander 2 together and we’ve had a few scripts. I feel that is the sequel I really would like to do some day because I like the original and I would make sure it was something new and worthy of it first."

And there's more. Stiller adds, “Meet the Parents 3 is a possibility too.”

Classically trained pianist, Condoleezza Rice, performed in a piano quintet Monday night for Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.

The current Madame Secretary was joined by the UK's Foreign Secretary's wife on violin and three members of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Condi was in London as part of her 'final' Britain trip before President-elect Barack Obama takes office in January.

The Queen gave Condolezzie a recording of her performance as a gift.

Who knew the National Hockey League was so strict???? And lame!

The NHL has suspended Dallas Stars' winger Sean Avery indefinitely due to some remarks he made before Tuesday's game agaist the Calgary Flames.

Avery is being suspended for talking smack about the Flames' Dion Phaneuf.

So, what did he say that caused Avery to get suspended indefinitely? Seems kind of childish to us to penalize someone for shit-talking.

Avery told TSN on camera that, "I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. Enjoy the game tonight."

Burn!!!

Turns out Phaneuf is dating Avery's ex-girlfriend, some D-list wactress named Elisha Cuthbert. We actually thought his comments were HIGHlarious.

Apparently the league's suspension is legal under Article 6 of the NHL Constitution. It allows for suspension due to any conduct "detrimental to the League or game of hockey."

This coming from a game where players are known to knock other player's teeth out????

Seriously, when did hockey get all uptight?

As for Avery, he'll be meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman before a final decision is made on his suspension.
